What Else Was Planned for New World: Aeternum?

Since the announcement of New World’s servers closing their doors soon, a lot of changes have happened within the game (and a lot of secrets have been shared).

Since this announcement, multiple major in-game updates were added, including the introduction of Daggers, a new Global Storage Search system, a revamp of Reekwater with all-new currency, and more!

Since these updates made it with in the game, the community also got a few easter eggs of a few updates that were planned and “in the works”. These communications were primarily shared directly through the official New World: Aeternum Discord.

New Weapon: The Thunder Gauntlet

The first one worth mentioning is that another weapon was being worked on – the Thunder Gauntlet.

We have no additional information other than the fact that it wasn’t the “next weapon”, but we can only imagine the many shocking abilities it would have had, as well as introducing the Lightning element more on the battlefield!

Battle Royale PvP Mode

Another note-worthy update that was planned for the future of New World: Aeternum was a new PvP gamemode known as “Battle Royale”. Many specific items with “Battle Royale” specific labels were included in recently data mined information, and believe it or not, the entire mode itself was preview directly within the Tutorial in-game (still is viewable in-game today).

Within the description, we can see that Battle Royale would have included a PvP mode that had a total of 32 players, where everyone began with basic equipment (sword, shield, bow, basic clothing). After 20-30 seconds, players would then be able to battle eachother to the death, where they can explore the battlefield to loot chests for upgraded gear and weapons.

As time continues to pass, the ring of death would decrease in size, and continue to do so until there’s one player standing!

Gardening and Homesteading

Another fun preview the community received from Discord was a quick tease on two additional tradeskills that were potentially going to be added to the game – gardening and homesteading!

It would have been pretty interesting to see how the food market would have been impacted by a tradeskill such as gardening, and if there were any new gold-making opportunities with these new tradeskills!

Pick-Up Wars, Company Halls & More!

Additionally, prior to the launch of Season 10 of New World: Aeternum, the team shared the following roadmap which shared a handful of game-changing updates.

The most note-worthy updates that were potentially coming to the game included pick-up wars, company halls with storage, a revamp of the invasion system, account-wide progression, ranked PvP modes, and an all-new travel mechanic, rumored to be related to sailing!

To learn more about some of the additional updates that were planned for the future of New World, check out the video below!

It’s a shame that we likely will never see these items added into New World: Aeternum, but it’s nice to see that the team had a lot of great updates planned.
