Iansan is an upcoming 4-Star Electro character in Genshin Impact who will buff and heal her teammates! However, her specific Nighsoul Recovery mechanic can seem rather tricky to understand.
Iansan Nightsoul mechanic
Some of Iansan’s abilities involves the recovery of Nightsoul points:
When a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Iansan will obtain the Warming Up effect for 10s. During this time, when Iansan restores at least 1 Nightsoul point, she will also heal your current active character for 60% of her ATK. This effect can be triggered once every 2.8s.
Additionally, when the current active character is sprinting, in movement modes caused by certain Talents, or at a certain height in the air, switching to Iansan will trigger the following: Iansan enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and obtains 25 Nightsoul points. Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10s by your own party.
Nightsoul Recovery Explained
It can be quite unclear on how this really works, so here is some additional information on Iansan’s Nightsoul points recovery:
- Her distance measurement is sensitive, meaning that when your character model does any animation, it will count. This includes even the base animation when you stand still. This will not recover many points, but you still get the bonus from her ability.
- Switching character will count as a movement as well, but it depends on the animation before switching.
- The Nightsoul-consumption based bonus of 4 that you can get at most every 2.8s will also count for Iansan herself if she is the active character. Since she is on-field consuming Nightsoul points right after you activate her stuff before switching, that means you can always get the 4 bonus once.
- Burst animation counts as movement as well.
