I definitely did not have Guild Wars 3 on my Summer Game Fest bingo card!
ArenaNet officially revealed the next game in the Guild Wars series during tonight’s showcase, confirming that the MMO is heading to both PC and PlayStation 5.
The trailer was pretty short and did not go deep into gameplay systems, but it did show a few large-scale battles and a first look at some of the environments you will be exploring.
The biggest piece of information came at the end of the reveal. ArenaNet confirmed that a beta is planned for Fall 2027. That is still a long way off, but after all these years, Guild Wars fans finally know that a full sequel is really happening!
Guild Wars 2 has been running for more than a decade, so a lot of players have started wondering if ArenaNet would simply keep expanding the current game forever rather than moving on to a new one.
Instead, Summer Game Fest delivered one of the show’s biggest surprises!
For now, details remain pretty small, but with a beta already planned, there is a good chance we will be hearing a lot more about Guild Wars 3 over the next year!
