Halo Infinite’s Last Big Update Launches With Operation: Infinite

Now that the dust and hype have finally settled around the Halo: Campaign Evolved announcement, even more news has dropped for the Halo community. Alongside confirmation that the HCS will indeed be returning, Halo Studios has officially announced that Halo Infinite is receiving its final update before transitioning into maintenance mode.

One Last Round for Halo Infinite

When Halo Infinite launched, it was envisioned as a 10-year live-service experience — a continuously evolving Halo platform. But in practice, that plan never fully landed. Despite consistent updates and a dedicated esports scene, the game’s player numbers steadily declined. Over the years, Infinite saw thousands of new armor customizations, a handful of new weapons, and dozens of developer- and community-made maps paired with new modes.

Even so, many fans felt the game launched without enough content, a misstep that left a lasting mark on its reception. Still, Infinite survived longer than some expected thanks to smaller, bite-sized updates and, most importantly, Forge, which gave players the tools to create their own maps and modes, keeping the community alive and creative.

Now, with the final major update on the horizon, let’s take a look at what’s coming in Halo Infinite’s last big sendoff.

Operation: Infinite

Operation Infinite is bringing several updates to the game, including:

  • 2X Progression Updates.
  • Halo Infinite’s final free 100 Tier Operation Pass.
  • The Exchange will debut over 200 never-before-released items.
  • Playlist Updates

From now on, Halo Infinite will be speeding up its progression. Players will now receive 2X Career XP and 2X Spartan points. Making it even easier to finally achieve the maximum level of Hero, thus giving you the Mark VI armor kit as worn by the Master Chief in the Halo Infinite Campaign.

There’s a new free 100 Tier Operation Pass, which is full of new armor pieces, packed with a variety of different themes and aesthetics, unlike previous Operation Passes, which typically follow a theme.

The Exchange will now debut with over 200 never-before-released armor pieces, armor attachments, coatings, charms, and visors. This also includes armor bundles added to commemorate ten years of Halo 5.

Ranked seasons will continue even after this update drops. Halo Studios promises to continue supporting ranked, and new seasons will roll out every few months with new rewards.

The Final Roadmap

Operation: Infinite may be the last major update currently planned for Halo Infinite, but the devs are committing to supporting players with community events, ranked seasons, and challenges throughout next year and beyond.

Challenges will continue to rotate weekly, and ranked playlists will also rotate. Fans can expect to see Halo return to DreamHack from March 27–29, 2026, and Halo Fest in Seattle in December 2026. Not only that, but it’s also rumored that Halo Studios is working on multiple projects, which is likely why they are stepping away from active development on Infinite.
