Warriors of Light! Can I “get a rez” at North Horn (5.1, 7.3)? Final Fantasy XIV‘s Patch 7.55 added a new field operation map, the Occult Crescent: North Horn. Traded For Enlightenment Silver & Gold Obols
Seek out the Expedition Antiquarian at North Horn (X:39.3 Y:38.8) and trade Obols for your desired Phantom Job’s Soul Shard. Doing just about anything in North Horn nets you Silver Obols, such as participating in FATEs and Critical Engagements. Meanwhile, chests mostly give Silver Obols, while sometimes also Gold Obols. The most stable source of them is from chaining mobs.

Dropped From Critical Engagements
The last two new Soul Shards are randomly dropped from two specific Critical Engagements. The first one you want to look out for is Dark Artistry which can drop the Necromancer’s Soul Shard, shown below. Try not to die to Doom when you use its abilities! 😂
Next, the second Critical Engagement is Appalling Behavior which can drop the Blue Mage’s Soul Shard, flagged below. Not quite the Blue Mage update we were hoping for in Dawntrail, but it’s something! This soul shard was by far the rarest for me and took well over five kills to finally drop. 💢
Good luck hunting for the soul shards! I’ve found it easier to get random Gold currency in North Horn compared to South Horn from chests. Perhaps I just got lucky with Fortune Carrots. Check back frequently on Icy Veins for more FFXIV news!
