Recent leaks from Full Stop Chan and Seele Leaks have offered a potential roadmap of character appearances for the Version 5.X patches of Honkai: Star Rail. However, some details remain conflicting, and no official release schedule has been confirmed. As with all leaks, take this information with a pinch of salt, as character appearances and release plans may change as we get closer to each version.
What Characters Will Be Released in 5.X?
As of now there is expected to be 12 upcoming characters from new faces to new variants across 5.X.
5.0
In 5.0 we can expect to see Firefly SP, information has been leaked around her kit but this will most likely change as its still under development. From this we know that she may be a Fire Break DPS character built around a new Finality path.
Firefly SP will have weakness manipulation, a burst mode, break damage and Finality guage mechanic. If the information around her kit is correct there is a good chance that she could end up replacing many of the current break characters we currently use. Firefly SP has also been said to be a Lunar New Year promotion making her a high promotion release but not necessarily a main release character.
Another new character expected to arrive in Version 5.0 is Misha SP. This reveal has sparked plenty of speculation within the community, as many players believed Misha had died during the Penacony storyline. His potential return has therefore left fans questioning how he could reappear. Some speculate that Misha SP could introduce an adult version of the character, while others point out that Misha was never truly alive, but rather an entity born from Mikhail’s memories.
Misha SP is rumoured to follow the Path of Harmony, or potentially a Harmony-based version of Finality, and is expected to be a support character. Could his return hint at a future revisit to Penacony?
5.1
Polka Kakamond is a member of the Genius Society in Honkai: Star Rail. Leaks have suggested that Polka will follow the Path of Erudition or an Erudition-based version of Finality since her Lore Path already follow the Path of Erudition and Nihility. There has also been rumours that when they are released they may be released under a completely different name.
5.2
Kafka SP will follow the Path of Finality and similar to her current character she will also focus on DoT. She is likely going to be one of the main push characters on the banner as well as an anniversary character.
Obsidian is an employee of the Strategic Investment Department while also a member of the ten stonehearts. Some leaks suggest that she will be another DoT sustain character but there is limited information about her released yet.
5.3
Another version of Dan Heng is also expected to arrive, with Dan Heng SP3 already sparking mixed reactions among players. Some fans have joked that another Dan Heng is all they need, while others are curious to see what this new version will bring. Dan Heng SP3 is rumoured to follow the Path of Finality but this could change and take on the role of a main DPS, with a kit centred around Follow-Up ATKs.
Xuanquan is one of the Xianzhou generals and a rumoured 5-star character for version 5.3. There is very little information around Xuanquan but there is a chance that she could follow the Path of Finality and will be a sustain.
5.4
Version 5.4 is expected to introduce March 7th SP. So far, details remain limited, with the only information suggesting that she will be a main push character. Her Path, element and overall role are still unknown, leaving fans waiting for more details about what this new version of March 7th will bring.
In addition to March 7th SP, 5.4 is expected to see another potential FATE collaboration leaving the community guessing who we might see next.
5.5
Stephen Lloyd is another member of the Genius Society and one of the creators of the Simulated Universe. While details about his potential playable version remain limited, there is speculation that he could be a support or sustain character, potentially with a kit focused on Follow-Up ATKs. However, his Path and Element are still unknown, so we will have to wait for further information to learn more about his abilities and role.

Castorice SP is rumoured to be released in version 5.6, there is no information around her character or actual release as of yet.

Looking ahead to Version 5.7 next year, we could see the introduction of a new Path for the 5-Star Trailblazer, alongside a separate limited 5-Star Trailblazer character who players would likely need to pull for on a banner. This potential change has sparked mixed reactions within the community, with some players excited about the possibility of another Trailblazer variant, while others would prefer to see something entirely new and fresh.
