A new mode is possibly coming in Honkai: Star Rail 3.7, and it might be unlike anything we have seen so far. Leaked from a post by Sakura Haven, the mode seems to linked to the “chess-like” gameplay that some leakers had shared previously. There are not that many details about the new mode yet, but what we have so far is a few hints on unique mechanics, and maybe even long-awaited character buffs!

What We Know So Far
- Special Mechanics for Select Characters:
- Reworked Kits and Eidolons:
- There are speculations that the involved characters will have modified kits, potentially making them feel more powerful or specifically fitting this new mode.
- For those who play Zenless Zone Zero, it can probably be compared to Hollow Zero, where some characters get specific new skills that are available only through this mode.
- Team-Specific Buffs:
- Some prebuilt teams may have their own special effects and passives.
- Standalone Mode:
- This is not part of existing content like MoC or Pure Fiction. It sounds like an entirely new system with its own rules.
- Unique Currency and EXP:
- There is a separate Gold-like currency and EXP progression exclusive to this mode.
- Shared HP Mechanics:
- Teams might share a total HP pool, and that would add some sort of survival and healing strategies.
- New Equipment System:
- Expect also new gear, augments, and orbs that you can only use in this mode.
Is Seele Finally Getting Buffed?
One major thing that the community noticed from this leak, is the mention of Seele! This might be the moment Seele finally gets the spotlight again.
As the very first limited 5-star banner character in Star Rail, Seele was pulled by a ton of people, but as the meta evolved, many players feel she has been left behind. Compared to the latest characters, there is objectively no more reason to even play Seele.
However, the fact that she is one of the few characters tied directly to this new mode, could mean that she is finally getting her well deserved buffs! HoYoverse did start changing old character kits, such as Kafka, Blade, or Silver Wolf, so it would not be impossible that Seele is next. Especially if she is one of the main characters used in the new mode.
Do not get your hopes up too much, however. She might also just get the “buffed” tied to the new mode. But this would definitely be a good moment to make her relevant again!
