With Monster Hunter Wilds launching on February 28, 2025, players are already picking apart its mechanics to figure out the best way to get around. A recent Reddit post has revealed a not-so-obvious Seikret control option, and if you like having full control over your mount, you will want to know about this:
How to Switch Between Auto and Manual Seikret Controls
The Seikret is your trusty, dinosaur-like (or chocobo-like) mount in Monster Hunter Wilds, helping you move quickly across the map and offering support while hunting. By default, pressing D-pad Up summons the Seikret in auto mode, guiding you straight to your objective.

But here is what the game does not spell out: Pressing D-pad Down (Q on PC) also calls the Seikret, but keeps it in manual mode! This means you can fully control its movement instead of having it auto-navigate for you.
Why This Matters
- Auto Mode (D-pad Up / Tab on PC): Great for hands-free travel when heading to a monster or gathering spot.
- Manual Mode (D-pad Down / Q on PC): Perfect if you want to explore freely, take shortcuts, or position yourself for a better approach before engaging a monster.
If you want even more control over your hunts, getting comfortable with both Seikret modes is a must.
