WoW Midnight Beta Tuning Just Reshuffled Power Across All Classes

Blizzard just pushed a massive round of class tuning via hotfixes on Midnight Beta, affecting every class and many Hero Talents.


The 12.0.1 Beta will be updated with an additional round of class tuning hotfixes later today. Here are the changes:

          • The damage bonus of Metamorphosis-empowered versions of Voidblade, Hungering Slash, and The Hunt reduced to 20% (was 30%).
          • Monster Rising now grants 15% increased Intellect when outside of Metamorphosis (was 8%).
          • Enduring Torment now increases the effectiveness of Mastery outside of Metamorphosis by 20% (was 10%).

        • Developers’ notes: We’re rolling back some of the previous bonus to Denizen to move that damage into your own abilities instead.
      • Stellar Amplification increases your periodic effect damage on affected targets by 16% (was 20%).

      • Frenzied Regeneration’s cooldown reduced to 26 seconds (was 36 seconds).
      • Ursoc’s Fury now grants an absorb shield for 30% of damage dealt by Thrash and Maul (was 40%).
      • Moonless Night increased to 40% (was 20%).
      • Killing Blow causes Maul and Raze to deal up to 100% increased damage (was 75%).
    • Restoration
      • Developers’ notes: The goal of these changes is to reduce Restoration Druid’s power in dungeons while keeping them at a similar power level in raids. This is primarily accomplished through reducing the effectiveness of their Mastery and Regrowth, while bringing up the effectiveness of Wild Growth and some raid-oriented talents. We’re also doing some targeted buffs for some weaker, unpopular talents for Restoration.
      • Mastery: Harmony effectiveness reduced by 20%.
      • Intensity increases Regrowth critical healing by 60% (was 75%).
      • Unstoppable Growth reduces Wild Growth’s fall off by 30% per point (was 15%).

    • Developers’ notes: Beast Mastery is continuing to overperform across all content, so we’re bringing down their baseline power and apex talent damage and making smaller adjustments to individual hero talent trees.
      Marksmanship is getting a small bump in AOE paired with a few buffs to underperforming spells like Kill Shot and Volley.
      For Survival, we’re buffing up Wildfire Bomb’s single target damage bonus to ensure it isn’t being forgotten about in Pack Leader’s single target rotation and tamping down Sentinel since its already overperforming and poised to gain a significant boost from the Wildfire Bomb single target damage bonus.

      • Developers’ notes: We’re looking to reduce Sunfury Arcane’s single target output significantly, but don’t want to sacrifice too much of what makes the Hero Talent tree exciting, so we’re opting to reduce Arcane’s baseline power while compensating Spellslinger. We’re also giving Arcane’s area damage some help, since they’ve been struggling in dungeon content.

      • Developers’ notes: We’re reducing Sunfury Fire’s single target effectiveness slightly and compensating with some area damage bonuses by putting some more power into Ignite’s Mastery scaling. We’re also taking some damage out of Fire Blast and Fireball and moving it into Pyroblast to ensure your Hot Streaks are hitting as hard as they should.
      • Mastery: Ignite effectiveness increased by 33%.
      • Pyroblast damage increased by 15%.
      • Fire Blast damage reduced by 40%.
      • Scald now increases Fireball’s damage by 25% (was 50%).
