Karel Kolmann, a senior developer who worked on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, has joined CD Projekt Red to work on The Witcher 4. The news has spread quickly across various social media, so naturally, a lot of players became curious about what this could mean for the next game.
A Quick Look at Kolmann’s Work
Kolmann spent around eight years at Warhorse Studios and worked on systems and quests for Kingdom Come. The series is known for grounded realism, detailed world interactions, and quests that react to how you play.
After it became known that Kolmann will join CD Projekt Red, fans immediately started talking about what parts of his previous work they hope to see in The Witcher 4. It seems that most players would love it if there could be some sort of deeper alchemy and crafting, reactive quests, or more dynamic world events.
If any of that experience finds its way into CDPR’s new project, the next Witcher game could feel a lot more immersive than what we had before. Many players are also simply hoping the new entry can reach the same level of quality that made The Witcher 3 so memorable.
What We Know About The Witcher 4
CD Projekt Red confirmed that The Witcher 4 will begin a new saga. Development is probably still in early stages, but quite a few senior quest designers are already attached to the project. The team size looks similar to the early days of The Witcher 3. For comparison, Cyberpunk 2077 launched with only a few seniors, supported by a larger group of junior designers.
CDPR is also still hiring senior staff across multiple areas, so the project is clearly growing. Bringing in someone with Kingdom Come experience could add new ideas for quests and overall world design. For now, fans are just hopeful this will lead to a richer and more reactive world than previous titles.
