Last Epoch Season 2 Survival Guide for New Players!

Last Epoch‘s second season, Tombs of the Erased, is almost here! Launching on April 17th, the update is packed with various adjustments and changes! If you are new to the game or coming over from Path of Exile, there is a lot to learn and a few systems that might confuse you at first. Here is a handy compilation of beginner-friendly tips and tricks to get your adventure started.

Some tips were provided by the following Reddit post:

Set Up a Loot Filter, but Not Too Early

One of the best quality-of-life features in Last Epoch is its built-in loot filter system. It is easy to set up, and saves you from being buried under piles of useless drops.

Setting up a filter not only declutters your screen but also teaches you about affixes, prefixes, and suffixes, giving you a head start on itemization.

That said, it is best not to set up your loot filter too early. If you are a new player, wait until around level 20 before creating one. This gives you a chance to see what kinds of loot drop naturally and get a feel for the item system before you start filtering things out for your build or playstyle.

Understand Tab Priority

If you are a Path of Exile veteran, you might be wondering about stash affinities. In Last Epoch, this feature exists under a different name: Tab Priority.

You can set stash tabs to automatically sort specific item types and rarities when you auto-store, which is more powerful and flexible than PoE’s system. And the best part? Stash tabs are bought with in-game gold, not real money — so don’t be afraid to expand your inventory.

Use the In-Game Guide

Unlike many ARPGs, Last Epoch has a surprisingly solid in-game help wiki you can access directly from the menu. It is packed with explanations about mechanics, item stats, crafting, and more. Bookmark it mentally — it will save you a ton of alt-tabbing.

Buy Shattered Runes From Vendors

As you explore Last Epoch, you will come across shattered items with valuable affixes. Vendors sell shattering runes that let you break down items and harvest those mods as crafting materials.

Even junk gear with a couple of great stats can be turned into glyphs and runes for upgrading your main equipment. Keep an eye on vendors and grab these every chance you get.

Don’t Sleep On Monolith of Fate

Once you’ve finished the campaign, Last Epoch’s endgame revolves around the Monolith of Fate. It is a map-based progression system with increasing difficulty and great loot. Dive in early and experiment! You can always reset a timeline if it gets too rough.

Season 2 also adds new systems to the Monolith with Tombs and Cemeteries, which also gives you access to the new Faction!
