Gearbox has introduced the newest Vault Hunter for Borderlands 4, and he is a true giant in every sense. Amon, a former cultist turned warrior-poet, who stands even taller than Brick, making him the largest playable character in the series. For now! His style is inspired by Vikings. Amon is built for aggressive melee combat, and devastating elemental attacks.
Here is everything you need to know about Amon, from his personality to his multiple skill trees and abilities!
A Vault Hunter with Presence
Amon’s personality is as big as his frame. His voice lines go from battle challenges like “Then fight me!” to poetic lines such as “I soar upon metal wings.” Amon makes sure every fight feels personal, and also dramatic!
As mentioned before, Amon is an ex-cultist turned warrior-poet who really does not like Vault monsters. As a Viking, he is destruction incarnate!
Three Skill Trees, Endless Chaos
Amon has access to three distinct skill trees. The goal with Amon is to hit hard and hit fast. He starts the fights, but he also finishes them. If you want a character that can take down enemies that are larger than you, and look good doing it, he is your guy!
Cybernetics: Crucible
This skill tree is all about summoning Amon’s weapons. He already summons them in his hands to slap people in the face, but he can also summon things like autonomous drones. You can have a floating sword, axe, or even hammer!
- Snap twin axes together and throw them, causing explosive damage in both directions.
- Summon autonomous floating weapons like swords, axes, and hammers.
- Cybernetic tree lets you start with fire and ice axes that you can change through augments:
- Swap to other elemental types
- Has the abilities to change the axes into hammers or swords
- For example, you can throw the Ice Axe to pierce through enemies, throw your Fire Axe right after, if the enemy dies, he will explode
Vengeance: Scourge
Amon’s vengeance tree is more focused on taking lots of damage, and dealing it back out! This tree has a special mechanic called “Elemental Affinities”, and you become a full Tank:
- Absorb enemy attacks and pay them back a thousand times. You get rewarded for killing enemies with specific elemental types and doing different elemental attacks!
- Forge Wave blasts from your shield for huge AoE.
- You can forge a massive ground fissures of fire, create lightning bolts from the sky, make projectile-blocking firewalls, and more.
- Amon can also taunt if you play with friends.
- You can also throw your shield.
- You can also use a spear instead of his whip.
Calamity: Onslaughter
Amon’s Calamity tree is all about bringing the fight to the enemies. You can empower your fist in so many ways that everyone can enjoy it! The main goal is to inflict weaknesses to your enemies, so they take more damage and inflict less damage:
- Empower your fists for massive elemental Rocket Punches.
- Inflict Weakness to reduce enemy damage and increase the damage they take, then make them explode.
- Use “On Slaughter” to dash-punch across the field repeatedly, perfect with shotguns.
- Drop the Molten Slam, slamming a fire hammer for a devastating AoE blast.
Built for the Frontline
Between his cybernetic summons, powerful shield, and explosive melee toolkit, Amon offers three distinct playstyles. And all focused on high-impact, in-your-face combat. You are in front, you take the damage in, and you send it back out!
