Blizzard posted a deep-dive into one of 11.2’s new features, Ecological Succession.
We’ll be rounding up some fauna in K’aresh, helping Ve’nari bring life back to the shattered planet. We’ll be filling and transforming the eco-domes through World and Daily Quests, progressing through different phases as we see the results of our efforts. We’ll even bring things back from Azeroth!
Each phase has new rewards and activities, and we’ll have up to three “specialists” helping us, including Hemet Nesingwary.
Help Ve’nari bring life back to K’aresh with her eco-domes. You’ll help fill them with creatures that thrive within the ecosystem. You’ll scour previously traveled zones to bring back animals to live within the eco-domes and aid them in adjusting to life on K’aresh. It’s up to you to help transform this barren eco-dome into one filled with life and promise for a new future.
Undertake World Quests and dailies as you lend your aid in toward transforming this barren landscape to a lush and vibrant ecology. As you progress through several phases, you’ll see the fruit of your labor come to life within the dome.
Each phase offers unique creatures, resources, and environmental challenges. Your actions—completing quests, restoring balance, and defeating threats—influence the outcome of the world’s evolution.
Getting Started in the Eco-Dome
In K’aresh, you’ll begin your journey through the new campaign and get to know this new enigmatic land and the needs of the people. As a part of your progression, you’ll help Ve’nari to protect Eco-Dome Primus from the invading Shadowguard and get your first look inside an eco-dome. Ven’ari is deeply invested in the success of the eco-domes in K’aresh and has poured her fortune into their success.
Once you’ve completed Chapter 4 of the campaign—Shadows En Garde— you’ll get a new quest “The Oasis” from Om’talad in Tazavesh which will send you to the Oasis Eco-Dome.
Your work will begin in earnest as you progress through the various quests available and begin traveling between Azeroth and K’aresh to help fill the stores of creatures within the eco-dome. Hopefully you don’t mind getting a little dirty. It will take some trial and error to get the balance just right, but the outcome could mean a healing K’aresh.
Recruit three specialists to help along the way who will have additional quests for you. One of these specialists should be a familiar face with Hemet Nesingwary senior joining in the efforts.
Rewards for a Job Well Done
Contribute to the world’s ecological cycle and you’ll earn various rewards, including the Wriggling Pinnacle Cache which has a chance to contain collectable items such as pets and mounts like the Curious Slateback.
“Weekly cache containing materials for upgrading gear, gold, pets, and more. The first two weekly caches you earn each week contain a piece of Veteran gear. The first four weekly caches you earn each week contain a Restored Coffer Key.”
