Everybody loves decorations, right? Blizzard’s more hands on approach to interior design in the War Within and the long awaited addition of player housing in the coming expansion is creating more than a few discussions.
A Housing Boom
Ever since the housing teaser trailer, the weapons on the walls, toys all around the featured house, and training dummies have sparked player’s imaginations. The (pretty fair) assumption is that we’ll get to decorate our places with our loot! This has made many players actually start hunting for items they might want to see on their walls right now! Not to mention the possibility of boss kill achievements and Feats of Strength being needed, like the Onyxia head shown in the video, and even some toys or mounts, as we see a goblin shredder and more scattered around the house.
Ifarmer7 is one of the players wondering about the feasibility of all of this, as discussed below.
Players are running along with the housing hype, and adding interesting ideas. Like this one from Relevant-Intern3238 to revitalize old professions, and with that old areas.
HaggardSauce also reminds us of a neat idea about a woodworking profession, which some players have already mentioned, and we covered in our Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct Community Reactions.
War Within Interior Design
Blizzard’s new found interior design passion also seems to be paying off. Many players have noticed the far more pleasing and decorated interiors in the War Within. Let’s hope it’s not just a fad and that they keep this run of more homey buildings. And this might also have been a trial run for all the clutter players will want to add to their homes.
As always, some words of caution are advised, and welcome, so the expectations don’t fly through the roof. No need for a hole up there!
- Seeing how extremely simple every single customization they’ve ever implemented is, I have very low expectations for player housing.
- I’d caution everyone to not get overhyped on ideas until we get more information.
As player housing addition is a huge thing, it’s understandable players want good customization possibilities. It’s also unsurprising for the hype to get a bit out of hand. But LinkedGaming has a pretty great summary of the community’s mostly optimistic expectations and hype, to brings us down to earth a bit. At least until Blizzard decides to show off Jaina’s house, WoW Cribs style.
