The World of Warcraft: Forever Beta starts this Thursday, September 17th, and there are currently a couple of ways of getting Beta Access. Players can opt-in through Battle.Net and hope they get in, or pay $59.99 USD for the Skyborne Epic Pack, which comes with a guaranteed Beta Access Key.
Some players, however, have opted another way. By buying a Big Mac in Australia — as first reported on Reddit.
MyMaccas – The Australian McDonalds App
Blizzard released a special promotion inside of the MyMaccas App, a points-rewards app based in Australia. With that, Australians can redeem 1,000 points for a digital key to the World of Warcraft Forever beta.
Aussies earn 100 points per dollar spent. Because a Big Mac meal costs just over $10 Australian Dollars, one meal is all it takes to earn enough points to redeem a World of Warcraft Beta key — totaling just $7 USD.
What if you don’t live in Australia though?
Spoofing is Cheaper than Flying
By using GPS spoofing to set their phone’s location to Australia, players can choose any store, place a pickup order, and successfully claim points in the app for the code.
This does mean people are ordering food that nobody is picking up — so we absolutely cannot endorse this method. Instead, get in contact with an Australian guildie. You might be able to get them a free lunch in exchange for a WoW Forever Beta Key!
Being Australian myself, I reached out to my local stores and had a few chats with them on the phone. So far, everyone I spoke to had no idea what the promotion was and hadn’t seen any additional strange orders.
The busiest stores said that, because of the density in Sydney, they get a lot of unclaimed pickup orders anyway and do their best to donate them when it’s safe to. So if there were extra orders from this promo, they didn’t notice.
Either way, I know how I’ll be getting my WoW Forever key.
