New details regarding the length of Resident Evil: Requiem suggest the main story will take around 18 hours to complete. This would make it one of the longest entries in the franchise, right behind Resident Evil 6. This also means that Requiem would then surpass the Resident Evil 4 Remake in length.
The game reportedly uses a dual-protagonist structure similar to Resident Evil 2. Players will spend 9 hours as Grace and 9 hours as Leon. Although the core story is 18 hours, most players within the community expect a first playthrough to take closer to 25 or 30 hours. For those who prefer to explore every room and read all the lore files, it will naturally take longer.
How It Compares to Previous Resident Evil Games
To put this 18-hour length into perspective, here is how long it takes to finish the main story of previous titles for the first time:
- Resident Evil 6: 21 hours (the longest in the series)
- Resident Evil 4 (Original & Remake): 12-16 hours
- Resident Evil 5: 12 hours
- Resident Evil Village: 10 hours
- Resident Evil 2 Remake: 8-10 hours per character
- Resident Evil 3 Remake: 6 hours
Adding Weight to These Reports
Capcom has not officially listed a final runtime. The 18-hour detail originally comes from a leak in late 2025. That same leak accurately predicted the name of the new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and the Rhodes Hill setting before they were officially revealed.

On top of that, producer Masato Kumazawa recently confirmed in an interview with Automaton that the game is roughly the same length as the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Since most players take about 16 to 18 hours to complete that game, the leaked numbers align perfectly with the official developer targets.
Replay Value and Extra Content
Resident Evil Requiem is confirmed to include a New Game+ mode at launch. This should add significant replay value for fans who want to upgrade their weapons or hunt for trophies across PC, PS5, and Switch 2.
Although some players might prefer the tighter 6-hour experience of the Resident Evil 3 Remake, the general consensus is that 18 hours is a great length for a modern horror title. There is also heavy speculation about additional modes like Mercenaries or Ghost Stories, though these have not been officially confirmed yet.
