Resident Evil Survival Unit Brings Strategy and Zombies to Mobile

A new Resident Evil game is on the way and this time, it is made for your phone! Aniplex recently revealed Resident Evil Survival Unit, a new real-time strategy mobile game being developed in partnership with JOYCITY and in official collaboration with Capcom.

The game is coming worldwide to iOS and Android, and while we don’t know all the details yet, a special reveal livestream is scheduled for July 11, 2025 at midnight (CEST) on YouTube.

You can already set an alert on the scheduled stream:

You can expect a full preview of what is to come, and a teaser website is already live as well.

A New Spin-off With Familiar Tension

Unlike the usual survival horror style, Survival Unit will introduce you to a new gameplay style that will fit mobile gaming. The game mixes the tense atmosphere of Resident Evil with real-time strategy mechanics, offering something “never seen before” in the franchise. It is a mix of zombies, strategy, and fun!

Though it is not a main entry, Resident Evil Survival Unit is being treated as an official part of the franchise. It may even connect to the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, but this has not been confirmed and is just a guess.

The Team Behind the Game

The project is in good hands. JOYCITY is known for working on major mobile games like Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War. Meanwhile, Shinji Hashimoto, a legendary former Square Enix producer who worked on Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, is now vice-president at Aniplex and is personally involved in the development of Survival Unit.

He described the game as offering a “unique experience” tailored for mobile gamers while staying true to the Resident Evil spirit.

If you want to learn more about the game, don’t miss the livestream on July 11, 2025! We will keep you updated, of course, once new information releases. Until then, you can check out our latest news as well!
