Retail Mythic+ Surges Past Remix in Week 11 But for How Long?

The eleventh week of Mythic+ in this season is over, and Nightstalker314 is taking a look at the weekly data provided by Raider.IO. With Turbo Boost fully active (uncapped crests and the chip vendor), Retail M+ metrics once again surpassed Legion Remix. In both modes, the focus drastically shifted towards higher keys. While Remix M+ has always been trivial at relevant key levels, even the worst Retail dungeon became somewhat acceptable through raw gear upgrades.

Weekly Total Run Performance Compared To Other Seasons

Globally, the total run numbers increased by only 22.13%. But this is also due to Chinese metrics only going up by 9.17%. The 34.50% bump across the 4 core regions mirrors the week 11 Turbo Boost from S2 (+37.00%). In relative comparison to all previous seasons, TWW S3 is still quite behind. But the internal competition with Legion Remix M+ is rather unique. Only DF S4 had similar circumstances with Pandaria Remix being active.

Chinese players still seem slightly more focused on Remix. Their global share during a grind week tailor-made to their mindset fell to just 43.66%. While they still dominated the highest key levels, they weren’t as active in the usual +10 and +12 keys.

In the previous week, Remix M+ numbers more than doubled the Retail activity. Week 11 flipped that trend. While Retail saw 22.13% more runs, Remix activity dropped by 26.62%. This is also tied to a general shift towards higher key levels, which serve as a one-time unlock for certain cosmetics. So, while Remix had 118% more total runs in its 2nd week, it was now 29.75% behind Retail

Total Runs Across All S3 Dungeons

The dungeon split widened slightly compared to the previous week. The overall focus was on short and easy dungeons. The order saw no changes, despite ranks 4 to 7 being quite close as usual. With an 89.55% success rate, this was the easiest week in S3 so far. That’s even higher than S2’s Turbo Boost week, which peaked at 86.89%. And back then, the impact of Chinese metrics wasn’t present. Players over there care a lot less about depletion.

Eco-Dome (94.27%) and Gabmit (93.76%) were once again battling each other for the lead. Streets of Wonder (91.58%) was closer to Halls (90.66%) than the top 2. Dawnbreaker (88.21%), Priory (86.96%), and Floodgate (85.39%) were finally reaching values that were more common during their first appearance in other TWW seasons. And Ara-Kara (82.94%) could finally climb out of the sub-80% sewers. A 4.51-point increase is nice, but the gap to top dungeons could shrink with another dev tuning pass.

Split Across All S3 Key Levels

87.21% of all keys were done at key level 10 and higher. On Chinese servers, that number was even higher — 91.77%. And once again, the dominant key level shifted from +10 to +12. In S2, we saw 25% and 30% shares for those 2 key levels. This time we are looking at 18.58% and 40.05%. 90% more +12 keys were done compared to the previous week. And 63.47% of all keys were finished at level 12 and higher. All in all, this season has been a lot easier so far, which still does not excuse the tuning differences between dungeons. The highest key levels also saw a major surge in activity, more than doubling the total amount of runs for 19 and above.

Success Rates increased for all higher key levels. Only levels already hitting 90%+ saw any decline from last week. With 92.54% and 92.85%, key levels 10 and 12 stand out once more. For levels 12 to 20, the percentages increased by 3.1 to 6 points. This is quite a lot, since these values barely changed during the previous weeks. But it also mirrors the effects of Turbo Boost in week 11 of S2. Players were more motivated and also had access to 5-10 more item levels.

Legion Remix Dungeon Split

The popularity gap widened further in week 3. The Arcway saw more than twice as many runs as Vault of Wardens. The trends towards shorter dungeons with next to no RP continued. The two new Karazhan dungeons seem to fit into this. They also appear for the 3rd time after Legion and SL S4. Vault and Court might be falling off more and more towards the end of Remix. At this point, their only relevance is a +20 clear for portal unlocks.

Legion Remix Key Level Split

With a top key level of 161, we seem to have gotten close to the limit of what is possible. In week 4, this has barely been topped so far with two +162 completions. But these spheres are far away from the general interest in Remix M+. Only 214 out of the 913,000 keys were done at 100 or higher. And only 4,541 were done at 50 and above, which is still less than 0.5% of all runs.

Mythic+ Runs Data by RaiderIO

The key level 30 cloak unlock remained the main goal. 21.58% of all keys were done just here, and 51.50% from +30 to +50. Activity below 30 fell by up to 65% compared to last week. And for the future, we can expect that +40, which unlocks the Infernal title, will become another bump in the curve. For now, it represented just 1.74% of all keys but increased by a factor of 3.44 compared to the previous week.

Conclusion and Week 12 Forecast

Splitting Turbo Boost into two phases felt odd to nearly everyone. The devs wanted to give M+ players something with the 11.2.5 patch release. But they also wanted to avoid it conflicting with the Remix release. And now we have this wild back and forth between both formats. But we expect that Remix M+ activity will also decrease drastically over time. Outside of seemingly endless goals for ambitious players, there are only a few one-time unlocks for cosmetic hunters.

As of this writing, 120 hours after the US reset, hourly numbers for EU and US servers are once again lower than last week. The Turbo Boost bump is over. So far, US servers are down 29%. For EU servers, it’s even 35%. But both regions are just 2.6% and 3.8% behind their week 10 metrics. For CN servers, the current drop-off is just 10%. The detailed breakdown will be up next weekend.
