Blizzard and StarCraft’s website are turning up the heat in their rumor kitchen: New information in the form of a faulty transmission is currently being shown when visiting https://starcraft.blizzard.com/, including a patient record with suspiciously familiar initials.
Transmission 02 Has Arrived
In our previous article, we reported that fans had reconstructed Transmission 01 of the ARG (Alternate Reality Game) that Blizzard seems to be playing with the community. Now, the next stage has arrived: Transmission 02 follows conversations about cargo, additional medical records, and more signs that something in the story told is going terribly wrong.
Familiar Name Initials Appear in The Files
The presentation on the website has changed dramatically: visitors can now encounter the download of a transmission sequence followed by rapidly displayed text, red glitches, and failure warnings.
As with the first transmission, several fan projects are tracking the current events, including JarlMarx’s archive, which has collected 13 entries for Transmission 02. In short, the log-like entries mention important cargo of an unspecified research operation and that something – including “screeching and scratching” – is happening inside that cargo.
Another piece of information is one of the new medical records, which identifies a subject as S. K███████. The last name’s apparent length could fit S. Kerrigan, short for Sarah Kerrigan, one of StarCraft’s central characters.
The Numbers Don’t Add Up – Yet
As we’ve explained in our earlier coverage, the recurring year in this storyline is 2575, which suggests a setting decades beyond the familiar StarCraft 2 period. However, the apparent Kerrigan mention pulls us toward a familiar character instead.
What’s inside the cargo? Why are the records on the website unstable? And who really is the new patient S. K███████? The opening of this year’s BlizzCon is less than a week away – and we can’t wait for the next episode of this Alternate Reality Game!
