In Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix increases an EX trial mount’s drop rate after a set period. Players can also obtain the mount from the respective expansion totem vendor. When an EX trial first launches, its mount has an estimated drop rate of 5%, or roughly one drop every twenty runs. If the mount manages to drop, then you’ll probably also worry about rolling against the rest of the party too. Over time, this can get to be a bit tedious. 😅
If you’ve been particularly unlucky in Hell on Rails, or don’t think early farming is worthwhile, now’s your chance! Patch 7.55, released on July 28th, further boosted the drop rate of the Wings of Mist to 10%. Additionally, you may now exchange 99 Runaway Totems for Wings of Mist from the Hell on Rails Extreme Trial. If you’ve been ahead of the pack and farming totems to buy this mount, go trade them in!
I Don’t Like This Mount, So Why Bother?
As with previous expansions, players can obtain a meta mount by collecting all of the expansion’s EX trial mounts. Wings of Legacy is the meta mount for Dawntrail. Now that the mounts’ drop rates have doubled, it’s much easier to obtain Wings of Legacy. Even if Wings of Mist does not appeal to you, it’s possible you may find Wings of Legacy to your taste.
As of writing, 7 out of 8 of required mounts for Wings of Legacy have had their drop rates boosted. You may speak with Uah’shepya in Solution Nine (X:8.7 Y:13.5) to see the exchange list below:

Currently, Wings of Nihility has yet to have its drop rate boosted and is currently not exchangeable. Patch 7.58 will introduce the drop rate boost and exchange for Wings of Nihility. The community currently anticipates Patch 7.58 to release some time in October.
I Have All 8 of the Mounts — What’s Next?
Upon obtaining all 8 of the requisite mounts for Wings of Legacy, accept the sidequest “The Wing Spirit Cometh“. To obtain the quest, head to Tuliyollal (X:15.3 Y:7.5) and speak with the Tonawawtan Boy to begin. A short cutscene will play, followed by the receipt of the Wings of Legacy.
