Diablo 2 Resurrected Warlock Reveal Cinematic

These Small Diablo 2 Changes Would Fix So Much

With the recent Reign of the Warlock update bringing the attention back to Diablo II: Resurrected, the community is once again playing the game. New content has helped reignite interest, but it has also resurfaced the idea that some small changes could make the experience feel significantly better.

The answers reveal a lot about what players still feel is missing, even after so many years.

Loot Frustrations Still Top the List

One issue continues to come up more than anything else: lost loot.

In certain areas, especially Arcane Sanctuary, enemies like ghosts can die off-path, causing their drops to disappear into unreachable voids. It is not rare, and for players farming high-value items, it can be incredibly frustrating.

“If a ghost is killed off the path, their loot should still drop on the path instead of being lost forever.”

It is a simple fix on paper, and one that already exists in some community mods. That is exactly why it keeps coming back, because players do not see it as a huge change, but just a long-overdue quality-of-life improvement.

Small QoL Changes That Would Go a Long Way

A lot of the most requested features fall into the same category of “basic modern conveniences.”

Things like:

  • Clear buff timers or visual indicators
  • Item level (iLvl) displayed on gear
  • Automatically sending picked-up items to the Horadric Cube when inventory is full
  • Temporary invulnerability during loading screens (especially for console players)

None of these would change the game, but together, they would make Diablo II: Resurrected feel much better and a bit more in line with modern ARPG standards. Not every suggestion is serious either, but some more “chill” ideas are worth pointing out:

  • Letting skills destroy barrels automatically
  • Giving Barbarians the ability to dual-wield anything
  • Replacing belts with actual armor pieces, like pants
  • Rejuvenation Potions that cure poison
  • Charm inventory
  • Breaking down high runes into lower ones
  • Reworking poison damage to make it more viable
  • Adjusting stat scaling (like making Strength or Energy more impactful)

Mercenaries Still Feel Outdated

Another recurring topic is mercenaries.

Players regularly point out the unreliable AI (mercs getting stuck or not attacking), limited gear options depending on the Act, and no way to directly command or reposition them. Even small improvements here could make mercenaries feel much better.

What stands out most is that players are still in love with Diablo II: Resurrected, even decades after the original release, and they want to see the game evolve a bit more.
