Week 1 of Midnight Season 2 has come and gone, and the Hall of Fame for Azta’rec, the Delve Nemesis for this season, is now closed. Let’s take a look at the numbers and what they mean!
“Fabled Vanquisher of Azta’rec” Title Holders Final Tally
With the end of Week 1, we now know how many characters have earned the achievement and title:
- 49,015 characters earned the title on NA servers.
- 64,397 characters earned the title on EU servers.
- Thanks Dunderman1 from the Secret Finding Discord for the EU info!
If you earned the title, you can check your ranking by going into Venomfall Deeps, available from the difficulty selection menu at the entrance of the Delve.
Or you can display it to the public via the
Corrosive Victory toy, awarded from the seasonal Azta’rec quest. Once you use the item (and then once every minute), it will display your ranking for the world to see!

Comparisons to Nullaeus, the Season 1 Nemesis
The way Azta’rec worked for his Fabled title was much different than Nullaeus, the Season 1 Delve nemesis. For Nullaeus, the title was limited to the first 4,000 characters who defeated the boss in the region. This led to the Hall of Fame for both NA and EU regions closing within the first 24 hours of the start of Midnight Season 1.

This predicament led to some controversy within the community, as the character limit obviously benefited players who could play right at the start of the season. Players who could not dedicate time to learning Nullaeus early on ended up completely missing out on the title (many without so much as even a chance to attempt the boss before the Hall of Fame closed).
Azta’rec’s title being time-limited rather than character-limited let far more people earn the Fabled title (a 1125% increase over Season 1 for the NA region, and a staggering 1509% increase in the EU region!).
Of course, this is not only due to the increased time players had to kill the nemesis. The full week also meant players had enough time to run their Mythic+ dungeons, get kills in the Venomous Abyss raid, and obtain enough gear to get more DPS and survivability for the fight.
The changes to Azta’rec’s Fabled title seem to have come from players complaining about the FOMO aspect of Nullaeus’s Fabled title. What is your opinion on this? Would you rather have the Fabled title be a true race against time like it was with Nullaeus, or are you happy with the extra time allotted for Azta’rec?
I Missed the Title! Is it Worth Killing Azta’rec ?? Now?
Yes, even without a Fabled title, killing Azta’rec ?? is still worth your time. Killing him gives you the following rewards:
Purging the Poison gives you the Poisonous title.
Let Me Solo Him: Azta’rec gives you the
Apophic Soul Crusher mount.- Killing Azta’rec on Tier ?? gives you uncapped Crests – 60
Hero Mistcrest (30 from ? if you haven’t killed it yet, 30 from ??) and 30
Myth Mistcrest.
