It’s a very interesting week here, especially in Mythic! First off we see the population climb of Heroic slowing to a crawl. Then there’s the rise of Retribution in Heroic’s popularity charts. Devastation’s looking very good as it climbs all the charts. And finally, we see both Arcane and Arms drops severely in the Mythic damage department.
This week’s major class tuning pass has had a couple of days to take effect so we may be seeing the beginnings of that in Mythic. Let’s dive in.
Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.
Note 2: Warcraft Logs bundled the Lair boss, Nymrissa Wavecaller, from the Tidebound Grotto into the Venomous Abyss rankings, which means the logs from here affect the overall rankings you can see below.
Heroic Venomous Abyss
Heroic growth has almost stopped, as we see a very similar amount of players here as last week. We also see Arcane actually drop below last week’s numbers, but it’s almost the only spec to do so. Retribution continues its conquest, gaining around 25K logs and moving past Arms into 2nd, with only one spec left above it. It won’t be reaching it any time soon, however, as the Mage is still 75K above it. The next climber is down in 8th, with Frost DK making really good use of the last round of buffs to move another two spots up. The other DPS DK wasn’t as luck, as Unholy drops three spaces and out of the top 10, with Assassination grabbing he final spot.
Overall Damage 95th Percentile
Arcane is on the way out in the top percentiles, it seems, as it drops two spots into 4th! Marksmanship is dominating the field and pulling away even more. Demo and Arms move up, but are both almost identical to the Mage. Devastation had a good week, rising two spots into 5th and pushing Subtlety out. It’s actually been a good one for Evokers in general, as Augmentation is also rising, also two spots up, in 8th. Frost DK is doing better in the damage department as well, closing out the top 10 two spots up. Down at the bottom, we see Feral briefly making it out and beating out Beast Mastery, which joins Fury and Fire in the bottom 3.
Overall Damage All Percentiles
The generalist bracket is slow to move as usual, with the top 6 remaining the same. We then see Devastation’s rise beginning, just one spot for now, as well as Retribution grabbing a spot, as both move past Balance. While the chart is slower to move, we tend to see larger leaps in it, as exemplified by Frost DK, which moves a whole six spots up into 10th! Augmentation is moving up here as well, but is still very low, despite gaining six spots.
Damage to Bosses
Arms is doing a little better in the direct damage department, breaking up the Rogue duo, and Frost DK is pushing up even further.
Individual Bosses
Nymrissa Wavecaller (Tidebound Grotto Lair)
Nymrissa is listed as belonging to the Venomous Abyss on WCLogs.
The Twin Fangs
The last bastion of Frost Mage remains intact, as it keeps 2nd place, and Devastation moves up significantly here in particular.
The Coiled Altar
Demonology loses ground as it drops two to Arms and Marksmanship.
Ula’tek
Another solid rise from Devastation here, landing in 4th.
A Look at Mythic
Mythic is still growing at a slightly slower pace, as the top spec gains over 10k logs, 2nd 3rd around 8k. Marksmanship is actually dropping here, as both Beast Mastery and Retribution move past it into 6th and 7th. Frost DK is on the rise, but just missed the top 10. Fire, Survival, and Fury are still stuck in the bottom 3, with only the Warrior managing to break 1K logs.
Overall Damage, All Percentiles
Arcane is having a really bad time here, dropping a huge five spots down into 8th! We’ll be doing the Mythic switch next week and focusing more on the hardest mode, so we’ll have a better view of what’s going on then, especially after the tuning pass takes full effect. Warlocks are having a good time instead, sandwiching Balance in 2nd, with even Destruction being relatively close to the top 10. Devastation is doing a lot better here as well, moving three spots up into 5th. Shadow is also on the rise, two up in 7th, as Arms drops three spots into 9th. Down at the bottom we still see Devourer, with Havoc not too fat off, so Mythic really isn’t a good place for Demon Hunters right now.
Mythic players do tend to react to changes faster, so these big movements might already be due to this week’s class tuning pass taking effect, despite the fact it’s only been live a couple of days.
