WoW Forever is set to bring together an incredibly diverse mix of players. Some have been playing WoW for decades, others are returning after years away, and plenty will be stepping into Azeroth for the very first time.
With that in mind, @Trentreed27 took to social media to ask veteran players for the advice they wish someone had given them before their first WoW adventure, and the replies quickly turned into a great beginner’s guide!
Remember to Slow Down
One of the biggest pieces of advice was to not rush. Many players encouraged newcomers to avoid drowning themselves in guides and content before they’ve even started playing. Instead, they suggested going in blind, experimenting with different abilities and discovering the world for themselves.
My personal suggestion to help you slow down is to take screenshots of memorable moments, so that you have an album to look back on of your journey!

Don’t Be A Stranger
Veterans also focused on the social side of the game. It was recommended to make friends and quest together, while others said to simply “be nice to people”. While WoW Forever developers are experimenting with the social systems like the Looking for Group (LFG) tool, it’s still 100% worth it to connect with your fellow adventurers in alternative ways. Even a simple /wave emote could make someone’s day!
Use Your Consumables!
Players reminded newcomers to use their consumables while levelling instead of saving every potion and elixir for the “perfect moment”. It was also widely suggested to keybind abilities/consumables early, so that you can avoid sticky situations with enemies.
X Marks The Flight Path
Flight paths also came up repeatedly. Veterans warned new players to visit flight masters whenever they reach new towns and cities, since missing a flight point can turn a future journey into a very, very long walk.

The biggest takeaway from the discussion is that WoW Forever will inevitably have players talking about optimal classes, builds and levelling routes; however, new players don’t need to know everything before they begin. Pick something that looks fun, explore, make some friends and figure things out along the way. Oh, and the most important advice of all from @Slayzdamstreamz:
If you’d like to read more newcomer advice from players all over the world, you can find the X thread here.
