The Voidspire is the first of the three story raids in Midnight Season 1, and serves as the bridge between the finale in March on Quel’Danas. Completing the Voidspire raid has story implications that change the overworld in Quel’Thalas, and we’re detailing what happens after you defeat the Crown of the Cosmos encounter!
This is not the first time a raid completion changes something in the Azeroth open world, with the most famous change beforehand being during Legion. Finishing the Tomb of Sargeras raid would bring Argus to Azeroth’s skyline, and completing the Argus, the Burning Throne raid replaces Argus with a red starπ5, which can be seen on the skyline to this day.

The Voidspire Finale Cutscene
Defeating the Crown of the Cosmos encounter in the Voidspire raid triggers a cutscene.
In the cutscene, after we free Alleria from the influence of the Voidspire, she is approached by Xal’atath. After knocking back Turalyon and Arator, Xal’atath reveals that she was never after Alleria’s servitude – All she wanted was L’ura, the Dark Naaru absorbed by Alleria during the events of Legion.
Xal’atath stabs Alleria with the Blade of the Black Empire, removing L’ura from Alleria. As L’ura reforms, Xal’atath begins the assault on the Sunwell, firing a beam through the Voidspire. As the family falls from the crumbling Voidspire, Umbric manages to teleport only Arator to safety. The fates of Turalyon and Alleria remain unknown.
Teleported back to Silvermoon, Umbric and Arator witness the Sunwell – Now turned into the Darkwell. We have lost the battle of the Voidspire.
Changes to Isle of Quel’Danas on the Overworld
With the end of the Voidspire, the Isle of Quel’Danas reflects Xal’atath’s assault and the conversion into the Darkwell. The first change is to the Sunwell itself – previously reinforced by the Vanguard of the Light after Xal’atath’s initial assault at the start of the expansion, the Sunwell itself is fully darkened now.

The Isle of Quel’Danas is taken over by the Devouring Host, with them sprawling all around once again. They are mostly elites. There are also void portals that give you a stacking damage DOT when getting close to them.

The entrance to the Darkwell itself is blocked by void, but you can enter there and see L’ura. This will kill you, very fast.

Are you excited to see the follow-up to the Voidspire raid? March on Quel’Danas releases on the week of March 31!
