Upcoming World Merges in New World: Aeternum

One of the most frustrating things in an MMO is when your server is dead – no one to party up with, no one to fight against, and no one to help you take down powerful bosses. Some players in New World: Aeternum have been experiencing this, and the team at AGS think they found the solution.

At the time of this post being published, there are approximately 6,700 people online on PC (Steam) playing New World: Aeternum. However, those 6,700 players are scattered across a handful of servers (and regions). As part of an ongoing effort to boost overall social interactions within the game, the team shared the news that they will be “retiring certain regions and consolidating their worlds into more active ones.”

To be more specific, the AP Southeast and SA East regions will be joining the US West region. Although this effort may have been created with good intentions, players are already flooding New World’s social media channels with MAJOR concerns. These concerns are primarily based around potential negative impacts on ping, and fear that it could make the game potentially unplayable.

Within AGS’s official statement here, they mentioned that “our teams conducted extensive latency testing, and we’re confident that the player experience will remain smooth and responsive across the board.” Whether or not that truly is the case won’t be known until it officially happens on Wednesday, July 30.

Which Servers and Worlds are Merging?

Platform-exclusive Xbox worlds will be merged into regional cross-play environments. This will allow console players to enjoy all the challenges of Aeternum alongside a larger player base, creating more opportunities for adventures, alliances, and epic conflict.

One PlayStation-exclusive world will remain in the US East region for those who prefer platform-specific play. All other PlayStation worlds will be merged into that world, giving players the freedom to choose their path. Whether it’s sticking with familiar territory or stepping into the broader cross-play world, that will be up to them! This additional treatment to PS players is most likely due to the recent surge of PlayStation players starting the game with the July PS Plus promotion.

Below is a full list of merges coming up:

Here are the specific merges taking place:

  • To El Dorado (US West):
    • Delos / Cerberus / Crux (AP Southeast)
    • Aquarius (US West)
    • Pleiades (US West)
  • To Aries (EU):
    • Iroko (EU)
  • To Valhalla (US East):
    • Devaloka / Alkaid / Chertan (SA East)
  • To Pangea (US East):
    • Sundew (US East)
  • To Tumtum (US East):
    • Nihal (SA East)
    • Taiyi (AP Southeast)
    • Mardi (EU)
    • Kronomo (US West)

We wish you all the best of luck if you are being impacted by these world merges, and fingers crossed that overall gameplay is as smooth as it was before!
