What Is Wrong With Diablo 4’s Reliquary System?

Diablo 4 players are not holding back when it comes to Season 10 feedback. Between all the praise for Chaos Armor and the rest of the seasonal content, there is one thing that players agree needs to be changed, and that is the Reliquaries, the feature that replaced the old battle pass.

On Reddit, people are calling it a huge step backwards, with one saying simply:

This system isn’t it. There’s zero satisfaction and zero motivation to grind the pass anymore.”

Main Complaints About Reliquaries

In the Reddit thread, players went over a lot of issues, so we gathered what came up the most often and what players are the most frustrated about:

  • Annoying to unlock – Every reward has to be claimed one by one, with slow animations and a very clunky menu. It often even bugs out and makes your entire game crash.
  • Weaker rewards – Cosmetics feel bad and not worth the effort. On top of that, the old battle pass had a completely free cosmetic that you could equip on any class, and this is not the case anymore. The free rewards are less exciting as well.
  • No excitement – The old 90-tier pass kept people engaged, but the Reliquary does not. The final reward feels less exciting for most players.
  • Gives a Predatory feeling – Console players especially say the UI seems designed to push Platinum purchases.

Cosmetics Under Fire Too

Even the rewards themselves are not safe from criticism. A lot of people agree that new armor sets all look the same, with spikes, shiny parts, and demonic parts, nothing special, but the store prices keep climbing.

Despite the backlash, the Reliquary has not seen major adjustments for now. Players are hoping that the upcoming changes planned for Season 11 will include some important Reliquary changes as well.
