With the Season 1 announcement around the corner, we thought now would be the perfect time to introduce Seasons to newer players, so we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) about them.
What are Seasons?
Seasons are an optional recurring game mode that requires you to start a fresh character every few months.
How Long Do Seasons Last?
A Season in Diablo 3 lasted for 3-4 months. We assume it will be the same for Diablo 4.
How Do I Create a Seasonal Character?
When a new Season starts, you will have the option to create a new Seasonal Hero. This is usually a leaf checkbox next to the character you’re creating.
Are Seasons Available on Both Hardcore and Softcore?
Yes, you can either create a Softcore Seasonal Hero or a Hardcore Seasonal Hero.
Do I Need to Play the Campaign First on a Seasonal Hero?
You will have the option to level your Seasonal character through the campaign, but it is not mandatory. You can skip the campaign if at least one character on your account has completed it.
When Will Season 1 Release?
We have no official release date just yet. Blizzard will reveal it on July 6, but we anticipate it’s either July 21 or July 28.
Will My Character Get Deleted When Season 1 Starts?
No, existing characters will not get deleted when a new Season starts. You can continue to play them on non-seasonal realms also known as Eternal Realms.
What Happens to My Seasonal Character When a Season Ends?
All Seasonal characters will be transferred to Eternal Realms when a Season ends.
Can Non-Seasonal Characters Interact with Seasonal Characters and Vice-Versa?
No, characters from Eternal Realms cannot interact with Seasonal characters and vice-versa.
How Many Battle Passes Will Seasons Have?
Seasons will have 2 types of battle passes. A free and paid one. The paid battle pass only awards COSMETICS.
Does the free Battle Pass Contain an XP Boost?
The free battle pass does have the XP boost.
Do Non-Seasonal Characters Give Battle Pass Progress?
No, you can progress through the Battle Pass only with Seasonal characters.
Do Season Realms Differ from Eternal Realms?
Yes, Seasonal Realms have a Season theme and unique game features.
Is Transmog Shared Between Realms/Characters
Yes, transmogs should carry over between your characters in Diablo 4 even though this was not the case in Diablo 3.
What About Seasons and Mounts?
When you’ve unlocked the mount feature, you will have access to it right from the beginning at Level 1.
Will the Altars of Lilith Transfer to Seasonal Heroes?
Yes! Once collected on any non-Seasonal hero, you won’t need to collect them again on any future Heroes. The Renown earned from altars will also carry over.
Will the Increased Obol Capacity Carry Over to Seasonal Characters?
Yes.
Will Map Progression/Exploration Carry Over to Seasonal Characters?
Yes, this has been confirmed by the developers. This also includes the Renown you get from visiting each place and capital city waypoints.
How Many Extra Potions/Ability Points Will I Have as a Seasonal Character At Level 1?
5 of each.
