Blizzard is seeking a Lead Dungeon Designer who can help to define the standards, spaces, and moment-to-moment gameplay for procedurally generated dungeons in Diablo IV. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the design and assembly of compelling gameplay spaces. They will collaborate with Design, Art, and Engineering groups to create dungeons with fun and varied gameplay content.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, support, empower and mentor designers on your team.
  • Plan and evangelize the needs of the Dungeon Design team to supporting disciplines.
  • Coordinate with other design groups to integrate new content, systems, and features.
  • Design and maintain our procedural content pipelines and processes.
  • Author scripted events and sequences to support gameplay and combat within dungeon environments.
  • Generate compelling gameplay spaces with a proprietary, procedural toolset.
  • Establish best practices and design standards for the dungeon design group.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in game design, including senior or lead design experience on a shipped product.
  • The ability to learn and adapt to new tools quickly.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and growing new designers.
  • Experience playing or working on Action RPGs (not limited to Diablo)
  • Experience playing or working on Open World or Online Multiplayer RPG content.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Deep understanding of level design theories and practices
  • Experience working with visual and text-based scripting languages to author game content.
  • Experience working with procedurally generated content systems.
  • Experience designing and implementing gameplay mechanics.

Pluses

  • Experience creating content for games using an isometric perspective.
  • Experience creating gameplay content using procedural generation.
  • Authoring game content using the Lua scripting language
  • Experience in Pipeline development and Process improvement
  • Multiplayer and/or co-op experience Familiarity with the Diablo franchise

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 – $149,400.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
