Tyrael’s Boons is a new seasonal War Plans tree coming to Diablo 4 in Season 16. It gives players more control over the gear and materials they farm, with four paths to choose from.
One path improves the Purveyor of Curiosities. Another helps players earn more Experience and Gold or farm Gems and Horadric Cube materials. A third focuses on crafting materials such as Obducite and salvage. You can find a full breakdown in our Tyrael’s Boons overview.
Meet Master Mercer, the Merchant of Mystery
The fourth path, Merchant of Mystery, is the one that really caught my eye on the PTR. Choosing it unlocks Master Mercer, a new vendor who sets up shop in Temis and Gea Kul on Torment difficulty only. What sets Master Mercer apart is that he sells Class Archetype Caches for Forgotten Souls.

You can also unlock Rune and Gem Caches by investing points in his branch.
If you’ve ever visited the Cabochon Merchant in the Undercity, the idea of trading Forgotten Souls for socketables should sound familiar. The difference is that Cabochon Merchant only appears under specific conditions. Once you unlock Mercer, you can visit him in town whenever you have extra Souls to spend, which should serve as a great sink for all the extra Souls players have later in the season.
Mercer’s Class Archetype Caches work much like the ones you earn through your Season Journey. Choosing a cache that matches your build narrows the pool of potential rewards, giving you a better shot at the Uniques and Legendary Aspects your build needs. Your choices in the tree also determine how many caches Mercer stocks and how often he offers Ancestral versions. One upgrade even guarantees an Ancestral Archetype Cache in his inventory.
