“Collect Infernal Warp while empowered by the Chaotic Blessing of Fortune.”
Not exactly self-explanatory, right? The game never tells you how to trigger this buff, so a lot of players have been stuck for hours wondering what they are missing. Most assumed it meant opening rifts non-stop in Helltides or NMDs, but the counter stayed stuck at 0/100. That confusion led to dozens of Reddit threads from people who thought the task was bugged.

How to Trigger the Chaotic Blessing of Fortune Buff
The easiest way to get this buff is by running Chaos Rifts inside Nightmare Dungeons or Helltides. That is where it shows up the most often.
- The buff usually shows up when an elite spawns inside the rift.
- Once active, every enemy you kill will drop Infernal Warp.
- Look out for elites outside rifts, too. Certain pink-purple seasonal elites can also trigger it, sometimes giving damage buffs or the Infernal Warp buff.
- When the buff is active, your character gets a red glow or swirl around their head and shoulders. It looks similar to other seasonal buffs, which is why it is easy to miss at first.
- Check your difficulty. You need to be in at least Torment 2 or higher for this objective to work. Lower tiers will not trigger the buff.
Some players also reported getting the buff from random pink/purple elites in the open world, though it seems much rarer.
Tips From the Community
- Spam Chaos Rift NMDs. Running a few in a row is the fastest way to guarantee progress. Some players knocked it out in as little as four dungeons.
- Watch for the swirl. When the buff is active, you will see a red or pink swirling effect around your character.
- It can feel random, and player experiences vary a lot; so just keep at it. The buff will show up eventually.
