Iconic Diablo 2 Annihilus Has Finally Been Found in Diablo 4 Season 15

Season 15 has been a treasure trove of secrets, and it feels as though the community is uncovering a new one every other day. From hidden Tristram and the Hellfire Torch to the town filled with cow NPCs and the Echoes of the Horadrim, Season of Hell’s Legacy has been a masterclass in creating curiosity and rewarding exploration.

Its biggest secret, however, may have just been uncovered.

The existence of the fabled Annihilus—one of Diablo 2’s most coveted Unique Charms—was discovered in Diablo 4’s files through datamining before Season 15 even began. Yet its source remained a mystery. Until now.

Reddit user Rhymfaxe has created a thread confirming that Annihilus can drop from a Diablo Clone encounter.

Based on the report, the death of a World Boss triggered the appearance of the Diablo Clone, preceded by the same ominous message Diablo 2 players know well: “Diablo walks the earth.”

We still do not know exactly what caused the Diablo Clone to suddenly appear, but the Diablo 4 community already has a convincing theory involving the Stone of Jordan. The famed SoJ is one of several legacy items added in Season 15, and it played a crucial role in spawning this version of Diablo in Diablo 2. Players could sell Stone of Jordan rings to vendors, eventually triggering the Diablo Clone once a server-wide threshold had been reached.

The Stone of Jordan cannot be sold to vendors in Diablo 4. However, dataminers have found that the game tracks how many times players salvage the item. While this is still unconfirmed, salvaging Stones of Jordan could be the key to the puzzle—otherwise, there would be little reason for the game to track that statistic at all.

We will report back once more information about Uber Diablo and Annihilus becomes available.
