No Mythics, No Ancestrals: Diablo 4 Players Take On a New Challenge

With Season 11 nearing its end, some Diablo 4 players are looking for one last challenge before the reset. What is a fun build that uses zero Mythic items and zero Ancestral Uniques, but can still farm Torment 4 and push far into the Pit?

The goal is not maximum efficiency, but simply to prove how far solid and fun builds can go without top-tier loot.

One person asked the question on Reddit, and the responses were surprisingly good and practical!

Zeal Paladin Is a Big Favorite

The most upvoted answer was Zeal Paladin. A few players reported clearing Torment 4 comfortably using this build with no specific mythic items:

  • Mostly Legendary gear
  • Non-Ancestral Unique weapon
  • Temerity as an optional defensive piece

One player even pushed Pit 65 within a day on new gear, using a custom Zeal setup with Zenith instead of Arbiter. With basic itemization, they reported Castle perk multipliers reaching 1850x, climbing past 2000x when testing Herald of Zakarum.

The build seems to scale really well, even without premium loot. And that is a perfect build for some last-minute ALT fun during Season 11!

Other Community Choices

A few other builds were mentioned as strong, low-investment options:

  • Necromancer Shadowblight – consistent damage scaling without relying heavily on uniques
  • Heartseeker Rogue – comes online quickly and can handle T4 content without difficult-to-obtain gear
  • Concept “Stagger Boss” Rogue builds – more experimental, but viable for fun runs against bosses if you want to find out how long you can keep a boss “asleep”

None of these rely on Mythics to function, and this is exactly what makes them perfect for a short end-of-season project.

An Interesting Challenge

The season is almost over, and many players are fully geared or burned out. A “no Mythic, no Ancestral” challenge changes the focus away from loot chasing or leaderboards, and back toward build fundamentals.

It also highlights something important. A lot of players just want to have fun. And you definitely have a lot of possibilities for that in Diablo 4! Once you stop trying to min-max everything, creating a new ALT where you just try to push the highest without having top-tier gear is definitely a really nice challenge. And who knows, maybe you will even discover your next favorite build this way!

With only days left before the reset, this kind of self-imposed challenge might be the most fun way to close things out.
