As Diablo 4 Season 12 prepares to launch later today, some details in the Patch Notes have gone unnoticed, such as a few adjustments based on player feedback from the Public Test Realm (PTR). Most of the changes focus on improving the new Killstreak system, increasing rewards, and fixing a number of bugs discovered during testing.
Killstreak System Improvements
The new seasonal Killstreak mechanic has received some quality-of-life improvements before going live. Killstreak multipliers are now highlighted directly in the UI, making it easier to track your current bonuses during a fight. Another important change is that Killstreaks will no longer reset when moving between dungeon floors. This was one of the most common complaints from PTR players.
Several Killstreak-related Massacre affixes have also been buffed, increasing the bonuses players receive for maintaining a streak:
- Attack Speed per tier increased from 6% → 8%
- Cooldown Reduction increased from 3% → 6%
- Critical Strike Chance increased from 5% → 8%
- Movement Speed increased from 7% → 10%
- Resource Cost Reduction increased from 6% → 10%
- Maximum Life now grants 3% Max Life per tier
- Life on Hit has been standardized to 100 per tier
In addition, all classes can now find a Bloodied affix that increases their primary Core Stat by 3% per Killstreak tier on Bloodied Items with at least 750 Item Power.
Better Rewards for Bloodied Content
Blizzard has also improved the rewards from the new seasonal activities. Bloodstained encounters now provide better loot, including guaranteed Bloodied and Ancestral items when defeating Bloodsoaked bosses.
This should make the new Bloodied item system a much more reliable source of powerful gear during the season.
Bug Fixes From PTR Testing
A few bugs discovered during PTR testing have also been resolved before the season goes live, such as:
- Fixed an issue where Bloodsplosions could contribute more to your killstreak than intended
- Fixed an issue where casting Falling Star with the Faster than Light upgrade would leave a gray square on the ground from where the Paladin started
- Fixed an issue where values for Aspects were different between the Codex of Power and when imprinted or found on items
- Fixed an issue where Azmodan’s Hoard, which required items from the Season of Divine Intervention to open, would appear after defeating Azmodan
It is not that much, but with these adjustments in place, the Season of Slaughter launch version should be significantly better than the PTR was. You will be able to test the improved Killstreak system, chase Bloodied gear, and experience the new seasonal activities once Season 12 officially goes live later today!
